Fourth Quarter Prayer Requests For SGC

From Mark Prater, Executive Director of SG Churches, Global…

The intercession of Jesus Christ for each of us (Hebrews 7:25) is a truth that not only reflects Jesus’ heart for us, but is also a faith-building truth that stirs us to pray. In his book “Gentle and Lowly,” Dane Ortlund writes, “His interceding for us reflects his heart—the same heart that carried him through life and down into death on behalf of his people is the heart that now manifests itself in constant pleading with and reminding and prevailing upon his Father to always welcome us.” Because of Jesus’ atoning work accomplished in the gospel, He now pleads on our behalf, and the Father welcomes us, and our prayer requests with open arms. Amazing, faith-building, prayer-producing truth!!

As we pray for our family of churches during the last quarter of 2020, let us not hold back our requests. Rather, let us pray with confidence in the gospel, and faith that our Father will hear and answer our prayers. As you pray, I hope you will know in a deeper way Christ’s heart for you.

Sovereign Grace Churches Fourth Quarter 2020 Prayer Requests

  • Pray that God would draw unbelievers to Sovereign Grace churches as we hold our Christmas related events and services in December.

  • Pray that God would give the members of Sovereign Grace churches opportunities to share the gospel with unbelieving family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers over the holiday season.

  • Pray that God would protect and strengthen our unity in every Sovereign Grace church in a way that display’s the power of the gospel to our broken and divided communities.

  • Pray for Michael Granger and Trinity Fellowship in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia asking God to bless their public services that they started a few weeks ago, and that God would draw unbelievers to this church plant to hear the gospel.

  • Pray for Joselo Mercado as he travels to Costa Rica December 1-3 where he will be meeting with about 25 pastors in that nation to equip and care for them.

  • Pray for Jeffery Jo in Manila, Philippines; Cornelio Nebo in Cebu City, Philippines; and Dyonah Thomas in Liberia asking God to give them grace as they work through the Sovereign Grace Churches ordination process.

  • Pray that God would use the new Sovereign Grace Music Christmas album, “Heaven Has Come” to declare the good news that Jesus has come to save sinners to those who don’t know Him as Lord and Savior.

  • Pray that God would continue to provide financially for Sovereign Grace Churches so that we can fund the gospel opportunities He is giving us throughout the world.

Sovereign Grace Music Collection

From Bob Kauflin, Director of Sovereign Grace Music:

For over 35 years, Sovereign Grace Music has been providing churches across the world with congregational songs that are theologically driven, gospel-centered, emotionally engaging, and musically accessible. In this new collection, we’ve gathered some of our most popular songs as well as a few that you might not be aware of. They cover a broad range of topics including God’s sovereignty, our need for a Savior, justification, gratefulness, growth in the Christian life, the glory of Jesus, dependence, justice, mission, God’s Word, suffering, living in a fallen world, our hope of heaven, and more. In other words, here are 25 songs that enable the word of Christ to dwell in us richly so that we might “do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:16-17, ESV).

And that’s our prayer as you listen to and sing these songs: that God sending his Son to save us would cause us to worship him not only with our lips, but with our lives.

A Conversation About Civil Disobedience

From Mark Prater, Executive Director of Sovereign Grace Churches…

Recently, Eric Turbedsky, Director of Church Planting and Jeff Purswell, Director of Theology, had a conversation about civil disobedience. While this certainly isn’t a new topic, it’s one that’s become a bit more frequent recently as we wrestle through more issues arising in 2020. I respect both Eric and Jeff and the ways they have thought through this topic. I hope that listening in serves you as you pray and consider how to best lead and serve your churches in the coming weeks and months. As you prayerfully consider your position on these things, let us take comfort in our God’s continued sovereign work in our lives.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Meet the Pastors College Class of 2021

Recently on the Pastors College blog, Jeff Purswell, Director of Theology & Training, introduced the current PC class of 2021.

As you might imagine, we’ve spent a great deal of time making program adjustments and contingency plans in the face of the remarkable season in which we find ourselves. Yet, none of that dampened the joy and anticipation we experienced last week. We are marveling yet again at the quality of students and their families sent to us by our churches.

The mission of the Pastors College is to teach men how to build their lives and families and churches upon the gospel of Jesus Christ.  When the gospel is consistently and faithfully applied, it produces a particular kind of pastor—and you know it when you see it. They become joyful, humble, grateful, encouraging, servant-hearted shepherds. Such pastors display the beauty and power of the gospel they proclaim. They are infectious, resilient, and steadfast—in a word, faithful. And these are the kinds of pastors whose own joy in Christ creates cultures of joy, humility, servanthood, and grace in the churches they lead.

Please join us in welcoming and praying for these students and their families.
